Zu1u has always been drawn to music, and for as long as he can remember he wanted to make music. He grew up in a family that loved music and always found comfort in listening to his late father’s music collection of records, cossets and CDs.
Zu1u would always write poetry, music and enjoyed freestyling over radio records in crowning his craft. He kept an app on his phone where he would record freestyles and all the waves of inspiration as they came to him time after time. Zu1u officially began recording music in the late times of his Senior year in the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN); although he had always been around music and recording studios sessions; he only began recording his own music when his then university Friend and now long-term Producer ReiBandz (Reigan Govender) started making instrumentals, sharing them with him, and they would inspire him to write more and focus more on his making music.
ReiBandz and 43oze aka Alo Keez (Musawenkosi Ndlovu) started producing and working on Zu1u’s music during the UKZN summer holidays of 2017. It was only in 2019, post his university graduation, when Zu1u would drop his debut EP titled “Ghost Town”. This Extended play featured 8 pieces which would introduce friends and fans to his music capabilities. Hit Records like #WYW and Choices would lead the EP to great success garnering over 2000 streams in the first week of release. The Ghost Town – EP continues to grow and gain more attention internationally as Zu1u continues to release more music. His most successful Single yet “Impumelelo?” propelled Zu1u to a new far greater audience both locally and over the world.
